Building a brand.
A couple of years ago I got this idea in my head that I wanted to be self employed. I am a creative soul and am not happy at all unless I am being artistic and creative. Now finally I am getting all my ducks in a row so to speak, but suddenly find my self in an awkward position.I want a logo for my shop "Esteemed Threads", but every time I pick up a sketch pad I hit a road block. I have a rough idea of what I want, but can not for the life of me get it out on paper. A friend pointed out that I my be to close to the project, and need a fresh prospective. I tend to agree, but Esteemed Threads is my baby. My logo needs to not only fit in with the theme of 16th century, as that will be the time period most of my vending will be done. It also needs to fit in with steam punk as I plan on doing some comic cons with a steam punk line of clothing and accessories, but it would also need to feel equally in place in a modern setting. when I first chose the name Esteemed Threads, I was trying to play on words steam, steamed threads, the final out come Esteemed threads. some of my ideas have been a threaded needle with esteemed threads being stitched into a back ground. a 16th century bobbin of thread, with a threaded needle making the "T" in the word threads. As mentioned above I feel I am to close to this to be objective. I have no clue when it comes to using software like Photoshop. I do know that a LOGO needs to look well with and with out color. it needs to be Scalable and be readable in a large format as well as something the size of a thumbnail. after all it will be used on letter heads, business cards, shop signs, and sew in labels for my clothing. if any one has any suggestions please feel free to comment.
